In-flight Video view of the SSBJ Campus
In-flight video view :
I had the privilege and the opportunity to take the in-flight video of the Sainik School Bijapur Campus in the third week of Sept 2010. It was a bright and clear sunny day. We were told to be in readiness to capture aerial view of the campus. I was joined by my colleague Shree PM Ouseph; teacher from the Social studies Dept .Each had a digital camera. I concentrated on videos, while he worked to get as many still photographs as possible. I had no previous experience of boarding a helicopter. I was not sure of my skills as videographer while in flight. We could not converse as the sound inside was enormous. We were asked to position our cameras by the side of the windows. The window glasses were kept open for the purpose. The copter took two rounds of the campus from near the Ajeet Bhavan. We were slowly lifted and moved above the gymnasium and swimming pool, Rashtrakoot house, Chalukya house, staff quarters, primary school and front of the school main building. The second round took us above the swimming pool, Hoysala house, mess building, Wodeyar house, Principal’s residence, school building and we landed near Ajeet Bhavan. The total time, we were on flight, was about 3 minutes 30 seconds. The video is converted and some quality is lost. The original is 164 MB while the one uploaded is 40 MB. D.Vijaya Kumar
